As good as it looks...

Making pictures of rich, decadent dishes is more challenging then it seems.  It's not the actual picture taking itself, but more about trying not to eat the subject before the end of the shoot.
Last fall I had the pleasure of spending a couple afternoons in the kitchens of
chef Greg Upshur + chef Kathryn Williams for the November cover of HOUR magazine,
licking my fingers as I arranged the dishes you see here--- before I was allowed to dive in...

East of the sun, west of the moon.

Last year  The Mr., JCM, and I decided to make a point of two vacations.  Well deserved, I might add. Vacation #1 you will find in this post here and here too.  Vacation #2 took us to the east side of the state for the magnificent sunrises, and then over to the west side for the breathtaking sunsets. We swam in the daytime with roaring fires at night; dined on fresh local fare; took day trips on back roads; and generally relaxed with good wine + good food + good company. This has been quite possibly the longest, coldest, cruelest of winters in ages.  I felt the need to revisit the warmth and decadence of our early fall escape...

Special thanks to the Widing's from the west for the use of "Widing's way", and to my family, of course, for the history rich "Thunderbird cabin".
